Hi, I’m Angie.

A California native, Bay Area raised. I am a creative strategist by day. The rest of the time I’m raising two boys, tending chickens, feeding dogs, growing food, painting, sketching, writing, and trying to stay balanced in a world that is not.
Sweet Savory Sustainable started as a place to share food. There’s still food… lots of it in the kitchen and the garden. But it’s also become a place for my version of the practical art of starting over in the middle. The middle of life.
This is where I document what I’m learning about my health at this stage in life, what I am cooking myself and my boys (still raising teenagers in midlife), creating with my hands to keep my brain sharp, and what I’m rebuilding in my health after a battle with depression and illness. Real food, strength training at home, and creative ideas that fit my changing mid life.
What you’ll find here
- Strength at Home
Strength training at home, walking, lifting heavy things, jiu-jitsu mom life, and realistic habits I can actually repeat. - Creative Roots
Watercolor, acrylic, sketching, photography, writing, and creative ideas I’m collecting as I return to the craft.
- The Nourished Homestead
Real food, scratch cooking, seasonal recipes, garden and chicken life, and meal planning for sanity in chaos.

Why I share
I learn by doing and I retain the process it by documenting it.
I share because I want this to be useful. Sharing helps me process what I am experiencing.
And yes, I’m a data nerd. This site is where I disect, test, tweak, and document everything.
If you’re able to adopt one idea and it helps you in any way, that matters to me!
What I’m building
Over time I’m turning what works for me into simple resources you can use too. It may come in the form of unintentional meal prep guides, seasonal garden to dos, creative ideas, and realistic routines for home, health, and daily life, rebuilding in the middle. Useful, and hopefully easy to implement for our full lives.
